Configuration Mode in NAV 2009 R2 Role Tailored Client

When RTC is opened in Configuration Mode and changes are made to a profile those changes cannot be reverted in user mode. i.e user cannot see the changes and revert them back.

Using Configuration mode we can restrict users.

To open in configuration mode user must be owner of the profile(need to set the Owner Id).

To Open RTC in Configuration Mode Type the following in command prompt:

  1. Open a Command Prompt
    1. Start > Command Prompt (or Start > Run… then type “CMD” and hit Enter
  2. Change to the directory containing the RoleTailored client executable.
    1. Type the following command:
      cd c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\RoleTailored Client
  3. Open the RoleTailored client in configuration mode.
    1. Type the following command:
Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.exe -configure -profile:”Profile Name” (Replace ProfileName with Your Profile For Example: Accounting)
  4. Role Tailored Client Command Prompt
When RTC is opened in Configuration Mode in NAV 2009 R2 you will see an indicator in top right corner indicating that RTC is opened in configuration mode  whereas in there is no indication in NAV 2009 SP1.
